Does Glucan have prebiotic or probiotic properties?

Beta Glucan does have some prebiotic properties, which helps the beneficial bacteria of the gut to thrive. Studies are still being conducted to figure out the indications of prebiotic and probiotic functions of Beta Glucan.

Our research, I mean science in general is just at the beginning in this particular type of research. We are not really sure. There our studies suggesting it most probably will have beneficial effects but compared to the other studies we were talking about, we are just at the beginning. So we don’t know but we expect it will be helpful.

Dr. Vaclav Vetvicka is a Professor and Vice Chairman, Director of Research at the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, University of Louisville. Dr. Vetvicka graduated in 1978 from Charles University in Prague with a doctorate degree in biology and obtained his Ph.D. in 1983 from the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, Institute of Microbiology.
